  1. Happy-sad-happy Flowers

by , 08-06-2020 at 03:08 AM (Barmy Blue's Bland Blog)
We went shopping the other day. They had sunflowers. I've been very up and down lately. That's nothing new. I suspect it's either lack of diet/exercise, bad sleep patterns, depression and/or hormones.
The temperature at the moment also is a bit up and down which is one of the reasons my sleep is interrupted so that doesn't help either.
    I'm pretty happy now though.
So I saw these sunflowers and I thought ah. Sunflowers. Indoor sunshine. We don't usually go for sunflowers. We'll ...

  2. Are They Lying?

by , 08-03-2020 at 07:12 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I was thinking about writing about the misfortune that people are acting up about racism, but I was listening to TV coverage of an electrical storm that has produced a tornado, when the reporters said many things that were false. It was clear that they didn't know much about weather and probably never studied meteorology, and they certainly never bothered reading the National Weather Service information about warnings and watches. They tried to make the thunderstorm sound like something exciting ...

The concept of reality being a computer simulation has been popular for some time, and I understand that is the hook in The Matrix, which I have never seen. One of the earliest serious consideration of the concept was Bostromís paper in 2001 (link below).

Bostromís concept runs into trouble with Occamís Razor; it introduces a complication that is unnecessary. I have never seen the point of creating a huge simulation, when it would be easier to simply go and take a look. Bostrom ...
  4. Food Trend

by , 07-13-2020 at 07:27 AM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I donít espouse conspiracy theories, but something along those lines is the best explanation that I can find for the trend in recent decades away from high quality foods and toward foods that are minimally nutritious and sometimes toxic. When I was younger, beans were eaten seldom and always properly cooked, but in the last few decades there has been a trend toward eating more beans that are poorly cooked beans and various bean derivatives, even though it is well known that beans contain toxins ...

  5. News and In Other News

    Well. The surgery went well.
He came out with no complications. So I've worried myself needlessly.
I wasn't super worried. I just think it's good to remember that ANY surgery carries risks no matter how routine. Just like it's wise to remember that fire is dangerous. ANY fire. And knives are dangerous so you must always be careful and observant and never forget thay you could cut yourself if you're not careful or worse.
Anyway. He had to have a few days to rest. Had to drink ...
