    A little something for our Thursday at Two Poetry group today, a week after a week's postponement due to the Mosquito Fire threatening our foothill communities... at least it gave me something to write about... lol ?

    Our challenge was something in the form:
    aaa bbb ccc ddd... so, tercets with a rhyme scheme, or some such. Hope I got it right:

    Spent a few nights away from the Divide
    Wife on holiday;

  2. Ghost from the past?

    It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here. So much has happened that i think if i were to tell it all, i would never be able to stop typing.

    I come back here sometimes; mostly when I read a good book (which is rare these days) and want to discuss it. I come looking for a place that I remember. But that feeling of nostalgia stops me from posting anything; i instantly realize that the familiar place is no longer The Place for me... So I leave without a word, feeling...

  3. Change is good...

    We've been stuck in a heat wave for quite some time here in Gold Country. It's not too uncommon for September.

    California has been burning; records have been broken for acreage burned since records have been kept for the last 35-40 years. Eerie red sun in the sky during the day due to ash clouds... moon at night too. Sun beams are red tinged... cars are lightly covered with ash from fires miles away in the morning. We're fine here though our community had a small scare about a month

    Howdy !!!

    I have often use the above affectation to start a post or conversation... it's folksy, and I believe I began using it after reading about Will Rogers the famous humorous, etc. It allows me to step out of my introvert tendencies - to open up and loosen up...

    So, no wonder it became a source of great amusement to me when, years ago now, the great cartoonist Gary Larsen, who has begun 'tooning again in a limited way!!!, created a panel with vultures feeding on ...
