Well, white knights re a crock but soul mates exist. If not at first people can gravitate to become soul mates. My wife is my soul mate.

some say life is what you make it. some say this realm here is a physical manifestation of our thoughts. maybe the idea of a soul mate just refers to some old soul you keep encountering life after life. You seem to be "made for each other" because you keep finding each other life after life and life lesson after life lesson. And it's always good to keep in mind, that love is a fragile thing, and you have to work at it. Keep all that in mind, and treat people well. You can't injure someone if you're being kind, and if what you put out comes back to you, then just stay optimistic yet realistic, and the person you need will come to you. Or, maybe you just need to be alone, whether it feels like it or not. who knows.

We say that stomachs turn, too.

Once I believed in the idea of a soul mate and the whole Happily ever after illusion. Then I realized that when you love someone, even if it is the never ending grow old together variety, it is hard work to keep that love alive. Love is a very fragile thing, and it is easily broken. If you don't work to stay in love, then eventually you'll wake up one day and wonder what happened to the love you once shared.

I only wrote it because I was looking at what a soul-mate might be. My own life has left me with the indelible impression that we can know things which would seem impossible. I believe in God and I believe that, since He is the source of all worlds; all that is bestowed is bestowed by Him alone, or at least originally. In other words, knowledge like this would come from Him and relationship to Him. But a soul-mate type love would be like this in my opinion.

But don't jinx me, please. It has been less than a year as yet. She is my love, but I will not be satisfied ever. That is the way of love, and... well, this verse from the song "love is a rose" sums it up right.

"Love is a rose but you better not pick it,
it only grows when it's on the vine.
Handful of thorns and you know you've missed it,
your love disappears when you say the word mine."

yeah, i also felt a little jealous...good for him. i hope i might be as lucky as he is someday. people like nik help me continue to hope.

I'm trying to figure out the word soul mate. Do you mean a person out there that will be present in your future that was your true love in the past? If so, there is a possibility that your past life you didn't have that one perfect love. I read Nik's comment and become a little envious, but there is always a chance that you can meet your soulmate.

I agree with Rich mostly. I think that a soul-mate might not exist. But, the same thing or better can be found in a relationship, although it is rare. I believe there's a great deal to life that we do not understand. When I met my fiancee I had overwhelming feelings which could be interpreted as finding my soul-mate. I felt as though I knew her all my life. And I felt as though the time I spent with her I had known all my life, somewhat like deja vu. And we fell in love within two days' time or so.

You have to find for yourself what it is you most greatly desire. Because whatever is right for you, only you can tell. For me my greatest happiness depends on a certain type of relationship, which is with one person, and full devoted for the rest of my life. Whatever you desire, you should get shared expectations with your partner.

You say, "at least a human." This is important-- for some people acting like a human is impossible, and for others they always will. It seems important to you, so you should absolutely require that they be a decent person. So whatever your standards are, find someone who fits within them. I say this because you should simply ask yourself-- you know the answer to this-- if you can be happy with the person. And then you'll know.

If you are serious about wanting a soul-mate. NEVER SETTLE!!!! That way will lead to bitterness and apathy and a loss of joy, respect for yourself and the poor tadpole that couldn't even stay a frog. I personally believe my wife is A soul mate and I can think of ONE other who I have NEVER and NEVER WILL blog about (considering all the other ladies I have spoken of in my blog that's quite a feat). I'm of the belief that if the heart's desire for a partner is there then the partner IS out there. Just don't know which they will appear.

This is a great poem, maraki!!! Now, I know that you don't regard it as a poem, but it highly poetic, in my opinion. I fully agree with Dark Muse, it is a characteristic example of poetry in darkness. If you don't mind me say so, it's like reading the lyrics of Tuomas from Nightwish- I bet you know the band, right-. Do you enjoy Gothic poetry and literature? If so, be sure to choose the subject during the 5th semester in the University, you'll just enjoy it!!! I loved the repetition of "chamber", "dungeons", "candles", "exits". They are images that communictae the feeling of enclosure in a perfect way. I love your images, maraki. You'll be great in Creative Writing!!! Keep giving us more!!
