To Virgil No the book I will be reading is NOT Attonement. It is called On Chesil Book
I haven't seen the film, but I read it recently with my Book Club. Nearly everyone there liked it. It's well written with suprises and mysteries. I didn't like the messing-with-your-head ending.
i enjoyed reading this entry (usually i dont go through long ones)...the end made me laugh. we have similar tastes. i like kira, i dont remember if i saw atonement... i'll wait to see what you thaught of it to read it
Oh I'm planning on reading Atonement this summer. You don't recommend it? I'm confused. Which McEwan book did she recommend?
This often has this happen to me as well. I am currently reading this religious book, The Shack. It is extremely popular among the religious crowd. However, I am struggling to finish the last 40 pages. I find in my case, I am just having a bad emotional reaction. Sometimes there is something in the fabric of my being that does not "jive" with the story/author's ideas.
Post it notes is a good idea, haven't thought of that.
Good idea! Might work well if you have a flash, an instant rush of words, drop it where you found it, or take some away in your notebook and leave people with a fragment. Just leave them and walk on, make people wonder. Post-it notes might work well. I'll try it out for fun.
I know the feeling. I wonder sometimes is it me or the book thats out of sorts.
haha I would hate to dissapoint you by making sense
I was fine until the last verse. Then I was at peace--once again DM has confused me--all IS well with the world. I liked the 'song' part of the poem the best.
Thank you
Nice! I really liked this.
You are... Scaring me! J/K You sound like a very strong person, I wish I could be more like that.
I loved that book.
I just finished Lady Chatterley's Lover and really enjoyed it. I hope you do too
I have Baron in the Trees on my list, I think you recomended it me when I did a post about translated works. I have not read Dostoyevesky yet, but I have a growing attrraction for the Russian's in general from what I have read thus far. I have read some essays and poetry by Roy which I found interesting, I have a fascination with India
Ooh, I haven't read a Calvino novel in a long time. I haven't read those. If you ever have the opportunity D-M read The Baron In The Trees. I think you will love that one. Oh and I know you'll love Lady Chatterly. That's a perfect fit for you. And Dostoyevesky is incredible. Not sure if you'll like him, but he's incredible. I think I've read that Vreeland novel. it was only ok. The God of Small Things was good but not great.
I loved the Zorro movies I might have to keep an eye out for that one.
I bought Isabel Allende's Zorro that came out about a year or two back and found her readable and HER version of Zorro is actually being used in the current comic book series as a basis for Diego de la Vega so she gets props for that at least.
I see. Regardless, it is a beautiful piece!
