illness of an odd sort

About the middle of December, I noticed myself getting a slight bit sick. I did the usual remedies to get well- stayed out too late, drank all the medicinal whiskey I could get my hands on, and stayed cold too long. Sure enough, the threat of my semi-annual cold disappeared. However, a week or so later, I felt this odd blob on the back of my tongue. I hawked and gagged and worked it out. Roughly the size of a small pea, was an unidentifiable goober, not quite a booger, but unlike anything I'd ever produced out of my own body. Needless to say, I played with it (it smelled horrendous) and finally tossed it down the drain. Another one appeared the next day, and I began wondering what sort of strange disease causes the hawking up of weird lugies. After a few days of paranoia, no more mystery balls appeared, so I wrote it off.
Now, two weeks ago, I got terribly sick after working in a ten degree F rodeo arena, underdressed of course, for around six hours. It was a swift one, no doubt because Townsend refused to let me sleep in and forced me to work out with him, despite my weakened state.
I noticed after I got home, that my throat was still a bit sore. Tonight, it felt as though someone had glued a quarter in my throat, So fed up with the constant irritation, I took a q-tip and my tracking flashlight and began digging about in my throat. What do I find? What appears to be a large zit behind one of those flappys of skin that close off your mouth from your throat. It took a good twenty minutes, but I exposed the little twirp and scraped it loose. After a quick examination, I proclaimed it relative to those other goobers.
I have no idea what it is. I do not doubt it is not supposed to be there. I plan to get it checked out sometime in the future. But I am at a loss as to what in the world caused it.
Any doctors out there desire to give me a diagnosis?
