More books for me

Rate this Entry
I got to visit a couple of my used book stores today and get rid of a bunch of old books, and trade them in for new books.

So here is what I got this time around:

An American Tragedy-Theodore Dreiser: I have been wanting to read this book for a while and than after Sister Carrie which I really enjoyed, I was even more interest in this book.

Mrs. Dalloway-Virginia Woolf: After reading To the Lighthouse, paired with what I know of Woolf, I have been wanting to read more of her works, and I am intrigued by what I have read to this book and its narrative style.

The Moviegoer-Walker Percy: I quite enjoyed his book Lancelot and I have heard this one is supposed to be good.

The Eagles Brood-Jack Whyte

The Straw Men-Michael Marshall: This book I picked up as a fluke upon one of those little coincidences which intrigued me plus it was cheap. At the movie I saw today there was a preview for this movie that looked interesting, and than when I saw this book I was like hey, wasn't Straw Men the name of that movie? And so one of the movies I saw previewed was based off this book.

I just put The Moviegoer on my list to read. I'll probably get to it some time next year. I had read it many years back, but I don't remember anything about it, or hardly anything. But I remember enjoying it and I want to read some more writers from the southern USA.

I think the world of To The Lighthouse, one of the truly great novels, but I do have not the same opinion of Mrs. Dalloway For me Mrs. Dalloway has a fatal flaw as a novel. I won't spoil it for you, but I would like to see you opinion of it once you've read it. I will say that lots of people like if not even love Mrs. Dalloway, so I may be an outlier.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the Moviegoer and An American Tragedy -- two novels I've long wanted to read, but haven't (though I've read other stuff by their authors).

Hehe ok I shall do my best to remember to share my thoughts upon Mrs. Dalloway, The Moviegoer, and An American Tragedy, though I do not know at present when in fact I will be getting to these books.
