  1. STS-135, The Final Space Shuttle & Other Thoughts

The videos speak for themselves. The first is the final take off, the second the final landing.

Gosh, can they mention “final” enough times. Still it’s always impressive to watch rockets and flying vehicles take off and land. Beautiful. As we say in Italian, “che bella.”

Overall though I guess I have mixed feelings. Despite what ...

  2. Little Boy's Baseball Dream

Ok, I've had a tough day. I found out my wife's car needs $2400 in repairs to pass inspection. It was hard to believe it amounted to that much, but yeah, when you added up all the various sensors that went bad (why the hell do we have these computerized engines?), all four brakes needed to be redone, and throw in a tune up, and urrgh. 5. My Date at the Pope’s Choir

I did something special last night. I went out on a date. And for my date I had my seventy-seven year old mother. As it turns out the Pope’s choir (the official name is The Choir of the Pope’s Diocese) was making their first American tour, and besides performing at some of the major churches and theaters in the New York tri-state area they also were scheduled to perform at a church in my old neighborhood in Brooklyn. You can read about them and the tour here: http://www.corodiocesidiroma.com/usa/. ...
