  1. One Year Anniversary

It was one year ago today that my wife and I sat in an orphanage half way around the world and met for the first time the little boy that would be our son.

All I can say is that there hasn’t been a moment of regret. 2. A Mother's Courage

We’ve all heard this week about the courage of the Navy SEALs. Courage always stirs my heart. Tomorrow being Mother’s Day in the United States I want to highlight the courage of a particular mother. I came across this article earlier in the week.

  4. Who's On First in Shakespearean

Ok, I don't think most people outside the United States are going to get this. There is a classic comedy bit by a famous American comedy team, Abbott and Costello, on baseball and strange nicknames.

Well this duo has taken the skit and turned the language into Elizabethan. If you're familiar with the skit, and you appreciate Shakespeare's language, you'll find this a hoot. I post this to commemorate the beginning of baseball season.

Here's the skit on youtube: ...

  5. A Linguistics Joke

I came across this joke earlier and I thought it was a perfect joke to share with Lit Net.

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his English class one day. "In English," he said, "a double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."
