You're right... discussions have been ongoing. An edit to sort out some tender sensibilities: Evacuation 9/8/2022 (Mosquito Fire) Spent a few nights away from the Divide Wife on holiday; Daughter: Auburn side Me on a cot until I could decide... There's lots to think when you're at a shelter Where everyone's gone bat - helter-skelter With Summer heat that just makes you swelter With two cats and an overloaded car Full of crucial "stuff" I couldn't let char Wishing I still had my Lotus guitar For what a fine tune I could wrassle up Set my sad kitties down next to a cup People would huck their dollars and dimes - yup But I never did learn to play, so guess I'll have to internalize my distress And suck up my sorrows - nevertheless... Nah, was lucky leavin' on a warning Few days later with no more forewarning Home before I had looters to mourning Unpacking (yeesh) worst than packing it in Still, the fire, at the time, looking 'fin' I'd considered this homecoming a win Yes, there were flare-ups to scare in new ways With apps at hand, and out the pasture gaze I'd sensed the end of the Mosquito blaze ~~~~~~~~~ Fired up the wood stove these past few nights Which is odd for late summer rain delights - The Mosquito fire wanes in its heights Folks upcountry allowed last to go home Those most dispossessed continue to roam Give thoughts to the critter, færie, and gnome My Wife and family back to routine Cats re-adapting to their homely mien Counting our blessings both seen and unseen We've been saved from the path of destruction - This time, a reprieve from reconstruction These foothill haunts remain a seduction * A disclaimer to add for those who've lost Homes, security, and minds at great cost - God bless; forgive me this tongue and cheek glost 9/22/2022 r. I enjoyed the poem and form seems ok to me. You where very lucky to have your home preserved dwelling so near from the burning area. Hope everyone is fine now you, your family, cats. If you aren´t insured, maybe this is a sign you should try to sell it earlier than you intended. I know there is much involved, in personal, familiar and spatial organization. your love of this place. But these fires seem to spreading more and more ( it is the same here, but the Brazilian fire areas seem to be almost unhabitated by humans, they largely destroy the woods and the animals habitats). I don´t want to sound alarming, but there is the risk of loosing the roof upon your heads.
lol... the format blew up in my face... I previewed it but the post disappeared in the work area... so had to copy and paste the preview into the work area and managed to give my indent format a syntax error because previewing removed the post... ah, well... how to edit ? Good news under the circumstances, but you probably can only really relax, when the fires are put out. Poor Rosie! But both cats will surely re-adapt when their life gets back to normal. To stay away from home is much more terrible for cats than for dogs. Hoping that you all can remain at home and that the fires will be extinguished soon!
Safe... still home on Evacuation Warning. Most of my friends still away fully evacuated. Started taking a few things out of my car... including internet box Phone has been disappointing with cell coverage... internet is still marginal at best. My wife is still in Nevada, maybe home Sunday if 'things' do not escalate. Cats are spooked... Rosie runs and hides under the bed afraid I'll put her in the cat carrier again, but Tinkerbell is re-adapting. Hoping we can stay home for the kitties Lots of helicopter and plane activity though we're about 6-miles away at last guess from fire activity. edit: Took out earlier links... too much having to jump through hoops to access Google images... https://www.google.com/search?q=mosq..._AUoA3oECAEQBQ Entre nous, Ta ! I'm glad things are getting better in your area. And it is better to stay together with the family. And it is also good you could leave the cats in the care of the Salvation Army. I guess cats get much more nervous and unruly as dogs in these situation. Hopefully you´ll be able to stay at home.
Thanx ! Here's the same map data but may be enlarged: map gets updated often: https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/maps/8398/ If you enlarge this map I/we're near Traverse Creek in Garden Valley which shows to the right of the Garden Valley place name, SW (down and left) from the South phalanx of the fire. I'm at a library as I type and am going home since my daughter decided to come home... we had to go separate ways and my wife is now in Nevada with family -hopefully staying put. Still a soft evacuation notice for us. If it escalates to a hard evacuation notice we have 5-10 minutes to leave so the cars stay loaded and I will have to wrangle the cats again (sigh). Will not miss the hard cots the Salvation Army has... but at least they took excellent care of the kitties Ta ! (short for tarradiddle), tailor
One update link for the mosquito fire. https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/20...mosquito-fire/
Hopefully all get´s well and is over soon. The parking lot doesn´t have a sandy ground it seems and you are there alone. Here they put all people together in empty schools and churches. Hope the three of you will have a good rest.
So I evacuated on an evacuation warning... took a long time to wrangle my two cats... here's a video before sunset by someone else six miles from home https://www.facebook.com/groups/WHOT...6579715780082/ hopefully you can access it without having to get approval. So me and two kitty cats in an empty parking lot... thinking of getting a kitty litter box just in case at an all night grocery store nearby & get something to eat. Good night.
Praying that all goes well and your compound won´t be reached. Hope you will be able to take enough food and the animals with you. Post your news when you can. Hope this over soon and you can resume your house and your normal life. Regards,
I think I found out what happened. On the top of the left margin of the document, there is a sort of menu. But one has to log in with Google to open it. I f one doesn´t log in one can view only that most recent poem from 8/8. But ok. Hope you get some sleep and solve your sleeping problem soon.
So strange... I logged off my gmail account and clicked the link as a non-logged in viewer and it loads (albeit slowly) the entire 191 pages (as of this posting). Maybe a glitch due to google being down the other day ? Maybe another regional glitch... Dunno. sleep this warm day with a light breeze accentuates my lethargy by degrees would that I could sleep anon and dream to appease my weary mind 8/10/2022 Entre nous, Ta ! What I can see: the name of the project and author Two rectangles for including poems (one of them headed "poem by another poet" and then your poem from 8/8/2022. I suppose this is the last page.
Odd you see only 1-poem... there are 190/or so pages of poetry prolly averaging 1+ poems per page. Doctor visits for my wife today; feeling hopeful Acupuncture will be brought up when we see the neurologist... my wife still hasn't received an appointment for one yet - maybe today when the local pain specialist gives her her release. (that looks funny: "her her" ?) Entre nous, Ta ! (short for tarradiddle), tailor
I see! One poem appears and a list with bonus links I didn´t give much for acupuncture until a friend took me to an acupuncturist when I was in a state of extreme depression, because of a medicament. It worked wonders! Also my late cat Tino got on very well with acupuncture. He had a severe spine problem, his doctor showed me the x-ray. Acupuncture was suggested and I got a very nice animal acupuncturist. It often happened that he lay suffering under the table, when the acupuncturist arrived and after the sessions went to his favorite place on the top of my highest bookshelf.
My doc doubles as a 2-page workspace for the next poetry assignment that I email & print out the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month for our poetry group... after page 2 or 3 is a compilation of recent poetry and bits and pieces of my poetry I glean from other platforms for entry (eventually) into my book(s). I've kept the format simple so I may cut and paste later, with candidates for my book(s) being highlighted. Is it not accessible ? re: Pain therapy, my wife has used some natural supplements with no joy... neither of us has considered yoga... but I have offered to experiment on her with acupuncture... can't be that difficult Entre nous, Ta ! Hi, tailor, Enjoyed the magical poem. A bit confused about: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing Has your wife ever tried natural medicine, like homeopathy? And doing a carefully oriented yoga? Might be good for you too. Hoping Covid-19 just leaves you all alone this time. Regards
"As I walked around the little gallery I found some beautiful glazed poetry, and some lovely photo prints by local artists that I may consider for some gifts." Sorry! I somehow thought they were the poems of your poetry group.
"And to frame the poems for people to buy them was a nice idea!" ... (lol) not for sale to my knowledge. Entre nous, Ta ! (short for tarradiddle), tailor
