  1. What To Do With the NSA

by , 12-05-2013 at 08:34 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
The issue of the records that the NSA has compiled is worthy of attention. There is a point where a government can be found to be abusive, and we should consider whether the U. S. government has gone that far.

The Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is pretty clear. “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported ...

Now that it has been demonstrated that effects that were previously thought to exist on the Quantum scale also exist on the macro scale we will have to figure out how to use those effects. It is likely that the effects were first noticed in very small things, because it is easier to apply the conditions on very small things. There probably is a way to entangle the particles of a human with something else, but it will be more difficult than it was with a pair of diamonds. And how will we get one ...
  3. Measuring Inflation

Inflation indices are usually created from the actual costs of something over time, and labor is something; although usually the prices of goods are used. The CPI index is derived from the changes in prices of consumer goods. The index is readjusted from time to time to reflect changes in consumer goods. Wages are simply taken as one factor in final prices, so there is not a generally available specific ...

  5. The Modern King Canute

I don’t like repeating myself, but sometimes appropriate people do not hear, so repitition is necessary. Today I had the misfortune of hearing Obama making noise about trying to command the tide to stand in its place, specifically the tide of cyclical change in climate. Those who deny the validity of science still believe, in a few cases, the CO2 put into the atmosphere by human activities has led to an increase in surface temperatures. There are a few problems with that: CO2 is a very weak greenhouse ...
