  1. Republican Death Throes

by , 03-09-2016 at 07:47 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
It been clear for several years ago that the Republican Party was destroying itself, but the exact reasons and method were unclear.

As the 2016 presidential election draws near the reasons have become clearer. It seems that there are two Republican parties; there is the pro-business, militaristic party that has been around for a few decades. This is the party that Nixon largely created from the agrarian party, the party of Lincoln, that had existed since 1860. The older version ...

  2. Which Beliefs?

by , 03-06-2016 at 10:40 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I just made the mistake of clicking on a suggested video on YouTube; it is about strange religions. Just before that I watched one about secret societies. These were very inspiring. Most of the secret societies aren’t secret; although a few were interesting in times past, especially the Knights Templar.

The Templars have certainly created a long lasting stir. They were controversial eight hundred years ago, and they still are, but they were dissolved, and in many cases killed. The ...

  3. Are They Slaves?

It was published in 1952, so some people might think it is out of date, but the same issues are still current. People are still being required to be over-trained for all positions, ...
  4. Fact Versus Opinion, What's the difference?

by , 02-15-2016 at 09:47 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I wonder whether one needs the same level of confidence for speculations, opinions, beliefs, prejudices, etc. as for facts. It has been my understanding for as long as I remember that it was fine to opine as one wanted to, regardless of actual fact, but when one wants to assert something as fact, then one must have evidence and logic.

For example, several months ago I opined that there was a good chance that the 2016 presidential election might come out like the 1860 election in ...

  5. Settled Science

by , 02-03-2016 at 09:05 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
In the course of reciting the dogmas of AGW, someone used the phrase "settled science" in regard to the theory that global warming has been caused by human activity. I foolishly started wondering what science is settled. There are matters that nearly everyone agrees on that might be called "settled", but when you scratch the surface there are questions.

There aren't many people who don't believe the theory of gravity. Newton's law of universal gravitation states ...
