  1. Better Holiday

by , 09-05-2022 at 05:58 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
Today is Labor Day, and I think that holidays are mostly a waste of time. I think that workers would be better off if they got another week or two of vacation time is stead of holidays.
Another problem with holidays is that they are dedicated to something, and not everyone likes that something or wants to honor it. Some holidays are dedicated to religious holidays, and here in the U.S.A. things that tend toward the establishment of religion are forbidden in the Constitution. That would throw ...
  2. To What Purpose

In the last few days, I have seen articles about scientists saying that California may be in for a ďmega floodĒ. I find such things mildly interesting but not useful. And I wonder why people write such things and why those articles get published ab\s something scientific. Itís like back in the 1970ís, when there were articles in the science magazines about the impending floods from the West Ice Shield of Antarctica sliding into the Pacific Ocean. It still hasnít happened, but there still are articles ...
  3. Falsifying Data

Today, July 22, 2022, I ran into another example of someone(s) trying to control how people thought about something by controlling the data. Specifically, it was in regard to the Cambrian Explosion. The manipulator of facts had a set of conclusions and edited the facts to get there, and other opinions be damned. That was how news media in the Soviet Union turned opinion toward the government, and it is how the U.S. Government tries to turn opinion in its favor. That method is easiest to see in regard ...
  4. Existential Threat? No

by , 07-21-2022 at 07:22 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I have respected science and knowledge in general since my earliest memories. I strongly considered going into a scientific field professionally, but being outside the sciences is more appropriate to someone of my personality; I am better suited for generalism than for the narrow specialization of the sciences.

While it is possible that the human race will be destroyed by a change in the climate of the Earth, that is rather unlikely, and it would be impossible for humans to alter ...
  5. Turn Back Time

by , 06-29-2022 at 10:49 AM (Memories of the 28th Century)
Up until a few decades ago, women controlled everything, and they did so by indirection. They did not hold top positions in government or business, at least not for the most part, and they didnít control through government or business. They controlled through nature.

From a young age, women, girls even, learned and still learn that they must control themselves, and that might be why they develop a lack of self-confidence by age eight. Maybe they realize how difficult it will be to ...
