  1. New Political Spectrum

by , 01-24-2021 at 08:32 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
Now that Trump has smashed the Republican Party. we have chunks of political parties, rather than a complete one. The chunks range from the Bolshevik collectivist communists to Mussolini style corporatist Fascists on the economic side, and on the political liberty side they range from true anarchists to absolutists. there's enough space in the range to include almost any political or economic beliefs.

Traditionally, the political parties in the U.S. have included pieces of the spectrum, ...
  2. About Democracy

Recently, more people have been talking about democracy, but I have gotten the impression that they don't know what democracy is. The word democracy is of Ancient Greek origin, demos cratos, meaning rule by the people. There are several related words of the same origin, including oligarchy, rule by few, aristocracy, rule by the best, monarchy, rule by one. 4. From Ignorance to Insurrection

by , 01-12-2021 at 08:37 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
While thinking about the insurrection invading the U.S. Capitol, I realized that the underlying reason for it was ignorance; although there may reasons for the ignorance. Most people have very limited contact with state and local government, just paying taxes, voting, building inspections, etc. And many people think that TV cop shows are good sources for legal advice and information about prosecution.

For criminal prosecution, there are many rules for the collection of evidence, ...
  5. Fiscal Conservatism

by , 01-06-2021 at 11:27 AM (Memories of the 28th Century)
It as been a while since the term “fiscal conservatism” was in common use, but in the years after WW II and before Reagan’s Alzheimer’s term it was in common use, and the concept was embraced by both of the major parties; although the Party of Lincoln was usually more for it, because the party of FDR was more focused on social problems, and some people thought that throwing money at a problem would eliminate it.

Ronnie showed us that it made no difference what one’s political or ...
