    This fine adage came to mind earlier today, when I was listening to a man who thinks that the Jews control the world, and that all evil comes from them (he thinks The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is non-fiction). There seem to be many people who put their faith into a single item or narrow set of beliefs.     There is big business in creating and maintaining conspiracy theories, pseudo-science, and similar things, but it isn’t hard to start such things off. The first thing is a single item that is factual or generally regarded as fact. If you decide to use something traditional, then there need not be as much of a relationship with the real world.
