  1. Beyond Altruism

    This matter has come to mind several times recently. It isn’t that I am altruistic, but some people have mistakenly taken me as such. There are advantages in helping others, and that is true of most animals, not just for humans. Most animals live in herds, packs, or family groups, because it is helpful to have others of one’s kind around who might be helpful sometime. Even if they don’t specifically assist, they might give some moral support.

  2. Human Sexual Differences

    An interesting question came up on another site where I am a member. It is a site for writers, and a woman member asked what it felt like for a man to fall in love or be in love. Of course, the question cannot be answered in full, but it is interesting, and it makes me wonder about the same thing. Personally, I would ask a female friend who had a fair grasp of neurotransmitters, hormones, and her own anatomy, but I wouldn’t expect a complete description, because of differences in anatomy and brain ...

    The more I looked into happiness and thought about it, the more interesting it became. In one way happiness is a set of chemical rewards that we get for doing things that are programmed into our genes as good. In another way happiness is drug addiction.
