Exiled in a kilt

Every year on the 11th of November, I go down to my Grandfather's grave and the war memorial. This year will be no different.

When he died 3years ago (in Canada, he was here before the rest of us) all of us grandchildren put a rose into the earth with his coffin. Before I had put mine in I took one of the petals of and put it in my suit pocket. I forgot about it and it stayed there, until I had the suit on again a few days ago and found the petal.

I hardly met my grandfather ...

Have we as a world become incapable of dealing with death? Or is the media to blame?

Everyone knows that "the only certainties in Life are death and taxes" so why are we always so distraught when it happens. I can understand it if it is someone you know, and the emotion of never seeing them again gets too much. Or the sympathy felt when a tragic situation like Dunblane occurs.

However, the public outpourings of grief for public figures who die is beyond me. ...

Ok, I have calmed down after seeing that article last night. I am still damn annoyed, but less likely to rant about politics.

This is ridiculous. Scotland is supposedly a developed country, So how can there be 90,000 children unable to get the necessity of heat in their home?
Scotland produces oil from the North Sea Rigs, we should be able to provide it to these families.

People are making money while children are freezing, that just is not acceptable.Electricity ...

What is going on with Halloween nowadays? I remember when I was a lad in order to get anything you had to do a "turn" (sing a song, tell a joke, do a dance etc) and even then all you got was a handful of monkey nuts and maybe if you were lucky a penny sweety (out of interest can you still buy sweets for a penny nowadays?)
