I'm doing an essay on jekyll and hyde for my 'speculative literature' class. and i have a question. all the info that i have found on this site is really informative but what do people think about the homosexual concept? my uni lecturer seemed to spend alot of time discussing how hyde could represent the "queer" side of the Victorian society. it seems that jekyll has an underlying desire to be hyde - he finds it exciting and interesting and cant stop himself from turning into hyde. my lecturer pointed out that jekyll is torn between being a "gentleman" and being a homosexual. that he is trying to "hide" his true self.<br>do people think that this is a valid concept?
