I am a 14 year old student and am currently writing a critical evaluation for my 4th year course work. I think children understand this book perfectly, fair enough some of the language is hard to understand, but a 50 yr old could find the same problem as any 14yr old.

Well, although this book is very good for children learning about english literature , I think that it's language is a bit off the subject, the similies and personification are to abstract for children of the age of say 8-14. It isn't exciting, romantic or whatever enough to make them want to read on.
So overall, I think that this book should stay on the over 50's shelf in book shops around the world, it's just too boring. If it was written by a younger and more of this time author then it would be perfect. Don't get me wrong, it has a great story line but it is styled in such a way that makes it hard to understand fully for our younger generation.
Thankyou and goodnight.
