I think that the way that Stevenson explores the theme of good vs. evil is what makes this book compelling reading. It is a lesson to everyonne and shows us the effects of our behavior and scientific progressions. If you want to read a good book though, that explores this subject further, read "Noughts and Crosses" by Malorie Blackman. "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is also a good comparison to "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding. They both contain good and evil incidents, symbols and characters.
