I read the book and have come to the conclusion that this book should never be forgotten. It has EVERYTHING!!! Love, hate, betrayal, anger, deceit, it has it all. If you took this book and put it in a 20th-21st century setting, practically everything would apply. For those who want to read this book, more power to ya! (by the way, the only thing that makes the new movie version better than the book is simply the fact that Edmond and Mercedes do get together ( they don't and the end of the book, which really sucked).
