Recently I began reading "the classics" and I had heard of "The Count of Monte Cristo" many times, so it was near the top of the list. I found it to be entertaining from many angles and also thought-provoking. The concepts of revenge and guilt and the relationships between the primary parties in the initial deception was very well thought out; the aftermath of it although years down the line was very true to life, although in a fictionalized and surreal set of circumstances.

Admittedly, it is necessary to pay attention to the characters when they occur in the book. Figuring out that a character was someone already introduced, but in a different setting was interesting, like the initial introduction of each of the Count's characters.

I was very sorry to come to the last page of this book, as I enjoyed reading it so much.
