Yes, Dumas' original drafts for each of the three musketeers were all in French...some may say strange because he was mostly African, but he grew up in a French colony and was eventually a resident in France.

In answer to liz's question, the fleur de lis translated from French means lily blossom. (blossom of lily) the executioner later describes himself as the executioner of Lillie. what happens to the four musketeers after the adventure is described in the epilogue. don't you think the end was kinda gruesome? Since Alexandre Dumas was French, was it originally written in French? The prose isn't as complicated as 19th century books often are.
