The House of the Seven Gables is one of the finest works of horror ever. Although some critiques believe that Hawthorne was attempting to lighten the mood of his guilty heritage, a mere scanning of a page will discover elements of the macabre everywhere. This is certainly a brooding, moody story, and is intended to be that way. This is America's Gothic Horror. A truly haunting work. This is why Dickens admired America's Nataniel Hawthorne.

mkgilbert
Author of Grimal's Spellbook, a novel of Magick
and Thistle, a haunted novel
