I completely understood what Jane Austen meant when she said that "... Emma is a heroine that noone but myself will like..." After reading "Emma" one is totally justified for disliking her. I for one think that it is a lovely novel, a little too long but really lovely. Jane Austen takes the very uninteresting life of the upper class and uses her teriffic skill of irony to create humour. The novel is filled with life issues disguised by sheer boredom(to some). i personally think that "Emma" is far better than "Mansfield Park". to all thaose who claim to hate "Emma", the novel and heroine i suggest to you, "READ IT AGAIN!"
