I am a Year 12 school student studying Emma in relation to it's transformation into the hit teen movie "clueless." I have discovered that to be able to appreciate Jane Austen's style of writing, you must, firstly, try creative writing yourself. Then, you will be able to recognise how fluent and enchanting her skillful use of language is. She manipulates words, syntax and dialogue in a manner i never thought possible. I think that this is half of the appeal of Emma for me, and i believe in this way, Jane Austen has achieved some of her purpose.
