I think Orwell' book 1984 is in conversation with an early attempt to depict a totalitarian way of life: It is Zamyatin's Miy. (Us) I highly recommend Zamyatin's book in order to clarify that Orwell's distopia is not unique and also not the first written one. <br>In addition, Burgess in his "1985" clearly interpret the motives of Orwell for the choice of plot and characters, geography, subject of "1984."
