I personally beleive that 1984 is about many people's opinion of a utopian world in the time that George Orwell wrote the book. Many people believed that Orwell was a communist but I beleive that he was an anti-communist because the book does show some points of Communism and Orwell totally Crtisises them. The idea of living in someone else's utopia is not Orwell idea of life and this is therefore why he went to Spain as part of the International Brigade and fought against the Falange (Fascists). Although he was helping the Communist forces the only reason he done this was because he intirely believed in Democracy and the Communist Republican were democratically elected
