well i personally feel that this book is a great piece of literature. the whole theory of a totaliterian state is a frightening thought, especially if you dont like the idea of someone else being in control of your life. as a teenager i should know what that feels like, with my parents! so the concept of the book is one which everyone can relate to in some way, yet the ending is dissappointing. i believe it should have ended with hope at least. the idea should be portrayed that there is always hope, without hope life is depressing. obviously i didnt expect Winston to single-handedly bring down Big Brother, but just so that it ended with there being some kind of clause or fault in the system that someone else could potentially bring down one day. without it being stated too clearly, the book should have finished with hope, maybe as Winston hopes, with the Proles.
