i am trying to find a short story by saki but i have forgotten the name of it. it is about a small boy called nicholas who is punished by his aunt for putting a frog in his bread-and-milk. his siblings are sent to the sea side for the day and his mean aunt is finally put in her place when Nicholas won't help her out of a well unless she allows him to have strawberry jam for tea. please please help if u can!!

Sounds to me like you're referring to H. H. Munro, who used the pen name Saki and wrote numerous short stories. You might find what you need if you conduct a search using his real name.

i tried that and i get a whole list of his work but without the story title i'm having to read the start of every one to find it! i think it was on the same publication as 'the mouse'. but thanks for the advice!! x
