So, when I was about 14 my sister was reading this book and said it was very very good, buy super creepy and suggested that I not read it (I don't easily forget creepy stuff! Haha). Recently I bought my own copy at the bookstore and decided to give it a go and I am loving it so far! Not only is it delightfully suspenseful, but it's written so eloquently and I love the parts that talk about the ecstasy of music. The romance between Christine and Raoul doesn't do much for me, it's more the way the story is told.
Has anybody read it? Got anything similar you would recommend? :)

Read it years ago as a teenager when the 1960s Hammer film came out and adored it. The scenes in the basement and the mirror room with the Persian were thrilling. I believe I was the perfect age for it at the time. Eris was enthralling and menacing and sympathetic. Well you know. My recommendations would be dated and in light of the romance you seek leans more towards adventure and thrills. Sorry.
