Though the book is boring, I think some of Hardy's later works probably portrayed his more developed ideas, and an understanding of how a book is supposed to flow. I too am reading this book for academic decathlon and I am appalled that this was on their reading list. I have never seen a book be so choppy and bland. Somewhere, I'm sure, there is a good thing hidden deep within its pages but I have yet to find it. Future readers beware.
