Personally, I think Shakespeare did an exceptional job with "A Midsummer Night's Dream." I don't understand how anyone could accuse him of copying other authors when he was merely poking fun at his own work. It simply adds comedy to the play and after all, it IS a comedy. I think some people tend to forget that Shakespeare could write more than just a tragedy. Also, because of the fact that this play was written for a wedding, would it not need to have a happy ending? I mean, how would you feel if a play was performed at your wedding and it made everyone cry? Don't you think it might put a bit of a damper on the festivities? I know I wouldn't want some play to ruin my big day. I just thought you might want to take this into account when writing any further comments.
