Anthony Trollope's Phineas Redux is another exciting book by Trollope. I finished reading it about half a year ago. For those who like political maneuverings, this book is easy enough to follow. Since I am not politically savvy, in the Palliser series I have speed-read the parts that deal with Parliament. What really interest me are the stories of the main characters. If you've already read Phineas Finn, you should continue on with this sequel because our hero deserves a happier existence, which he attains by marrying well. The great thing about Trollope is his genius in portraying real people, especially the weird ones we come across in our own lives often enough and who represent real challenges to us. Trollope, by describing these persons so vividly, teaches us how their minds work. By learning how their minds work, we can deal with them more effectively, perhaps to protect ourselves from the kind of insanity brought on by co-dependence.
