othello is , infact, a mystery play. To me, it is positively a tragedy of misunderstanding as othello remains unable to comprehend the love of his wife. He has a firm conviction in Shakespeare "Frailty, thy name is woman". He strongly believes that the ladies possess fibre and vulnerable chastity.

Othello is a tragedy of misunderstanding. Othello misunderstands Dezza's pleas for Cassio's reinstatement. He mistakes her sense of duty for love and consequently becomes jealous. Iago quickly takes advantage of this and uses it to bring Othello down.
Dezza also misunderstands Othello. She takes his emotional distress for physical illness. She treats Othello as if he were ill and fails to comprehend his jealousy.
Othello mistakes Cassio's love for Bianca as love for Dezza and also takes his courtliness for love of Dezza instead of just politeness.
Emilia fails to understand the importance of the handkerchief when she steals it for Iago.
Brabantio takes Dezza's love for Othello as deciet and promptly throws her out of the house.Roderigo is deluded into believing that Dezza has feelings for him.
Everyone except for Iago misunderstands someone else or is misunderstood. This makes the play a tragedy of misunderstanding.
