He never got the letter because of the desiese in the city that Romeo was in and all traffic going in and out was closed.

I think the reason Romeo was banished from Verona, and not condemned to death, was for a couple of reasons. The first, I believe, was that the prince of Verona was ambiguous about Romeo's guilt. Benvolio's account to the prince of the killing of Mercutio was that Romeo had tried to prevent Tybalt's aggressiveness, and in interfering in this way he had likely made Mercutio more vulnerable to Tybalt and in a way contributed to Mercutio's death. Likely the prince saw Tybalt as the aggressor and instigator in the affair - the prince probably believed Tybalt deserved to die after he killed Mercutio, but for appearance sake, the prince could not let Romeo's killing of Tybalt go completely unaddressed - his killing of Tybalt was a form of vigilanteesm, and also politically sensitive since the Capulets were obviously a very powerful, influential family in Verona. Secondly probably had to do with Tybalt's character - he was an affected, artificial, loose-cannon kind of character. The prince seemed to be quite a tolerant and fair-minded individual, and likely he admired and respected Romeo, but probably disdained Tybalt.

The play explains that Friar John, who was to deliver the letter to Romeo From Friar Laurence, was prevented from delivering the letter because of something like a quarentine - Friar John visited a member of his order who was sick in another town. Then people from that town (probably part of the town government or leadership) believed that the sick person had a serious contagious disease (perhaps a plague) and so the house was quarantined for a time and Friar John was prevented from leaving, so he could not deliver the letter. He eventually brought the letter back to Friar Laurence when he was released from the quarantine.

why do you think that when Romeo was banished from Verona, and how come he never got the letter of the plan that Frier had sent to him about juliet drinking the posion and her pretending to be dead ?
