Yes, Boz was an early pen name of Dickens'.

this was dickens's second book, i think. he wrote it when he was in his early twenties and was very proud of it at the time- it was the first book of short stories that really got his career rolling- it's a great look at london life in the 19th century during the industrial revolution. dickens was working as a reporter at the time and you can really see his journalistic analysing style in the way he describes the characters and surroundings. 'sketches' are just short stories.

I was in an antique store in Arequipa,Peru and purchased book,<br> Tales and sketches <br> volume II<br> OLIVER TWIST<br> by "Boz"<br> and <br> tales and sketches by other<br> w.r.<br> Carey,Lee and Blanchard<br> Philadelphia<br><br>can anyone tell me ANYTHING about this book?I've had it for 10 years before it dawned on me that BOZ just might be Dickens.<br><br>Thank you very,very much!<br>
