I do not believe that a person reading this book would be wrong if he/she decided to make Satan as a hero. To be more precise, Satan depicted as an Aristotelian tragic hero would better argue the reading of him as being a hero. Milton made a lot of points in his novel, including the one that women are the downfall of all mankind and should serve in total obedience to our own "Adam" because only through him can we know of God's wonders. One of Milton's other points is that a messenger from God was whispering this novel into his ear every night so that he could explain God's works to man. I believe that a person can grasp many points throughout Milton's work, some of which other people did not precieve in this novel. Milton is very long-winded and it would take another messenger from God whispering in all of ours ears to help us know exactly what Milton's points were.
