When my mom introduced me to the Wind in the Willows I was about six or seven years old. From the beginning I was enchanted and I have read it many times since then. Now I am thirteen and am renewing my old tradition of reading it every spring. I think it is one of those books that you can get something from in any stage of life. A little child can enjoy the nonsense and fun, and an older reader can appreciate the sentimentality and antique charm. I recommend this book for anyone; reading it for the first time will be just the beginning of a long friendship with all the characters. Be sure to get a copy with the original illustrations by Ernest Shepard. They are simple and charming and I think they add a lot to the charm.
