Yes. I DID have to read this recently, and I still have yet to finish it (though it was due sometime in January). It is pretty boring....ok, very boring....but at the same time, I admire all the symbolism Hawthorne managed to squeeze into this short story. Maybe if he actually let his characters speak more before enveloping us into some deep, symbol speech it would be a bit more exiting. Maybe. Seems rushed because it skips so many years, but way too drawn out for the years it doesn't skip. If you read this willingly, and don't hear all the critisism before reading, happy reading. If you were like me, prepare for some boring book.
