OK ok, Nathaniel Hawthorne talks WAY too much and he has some major issues, but over all it was a really good book. It teaches us that we need to consider the consequenses of our actions before we do something stupid or we may end up as a blood-sucking parasite or a snivelling wimp.It also shows that mankind is cruel and sinful by nature, but we also have a natural desire to admit our wrongs(it's called a conscience) I thought it had some really good substance to it, just dont read it when youre tired cause then you wont have any clue what just happened. Read it when you have the time and the energy to sit down for an hour of " challenging classical literature" or in other words a really confusing book with a good story that could be told in about 10 pages.
