This was a good book in my opinion. I feel as though others might have not liked her because it wouldn't be considered dramatic in today's society and also, the language of the books time setting is one of which we do not speak today and may be confusing for some. I liked how Nathaniel Hawthorne mixed the supernatural with romance. Although it doesn't seem like a romancec; it is. Although Hester was branded the letter "A" to her bosom, she could have received more mercy if she had told who the man was, but she didn't because of the love and admiration she had for him in her heart.
