This novel portrays a great deal of emotional sacrifice, and is one of the best novels. But it is also a very tedious and unenjoyable, and i would not reccoment it to a first time heavy english reader. For those who don't have the time to read it, I would reccomend watching the movie, or readng chapter summaries.
