To anybody that does not realize the genius of Charles Dickens - Do you dress yourself in the morning? It is obvious that this man has a writing technique to be rated with the likes of Shakespeare and Tolkien. This story has so many intersecting plots and themes that it is reminiscent of the great Shakespearean tragedies. The hero of the story is not Darnay - is is Carton. We are only made aware of that at the end, however. His character development is suitable for the purpose, and nothing more, the way it should be. I pity those that cannot find enjoyment in one of the greatest works of English literature in history.
