I just finished this book as an English IV assignment. Initially, I thought "Great... another boring book I have to read and answer a jillion questions on..." But as I started to read, I was glad that my teacher had made us read this book. I believe this to be one of the most beautifully written books in American literature. Charles Dickens' talent for writing, creating such beautiful and poignant emotions with mere words, is amazing in itself. I found this to be one of the best books I have ever read. It is now my favorite book, replacing East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Anyone who has ever felt the sting of unrequited love and shame at one's actions will identify with this book. It is a work of art that has truly earned the title of a Classic.
