This book is currently the focus of one of my courses in University. It is not easy to read due to the epistolary nature of the novel. However, I found a comment very interesting on this site. It was that Van Helsing was the brains of the operation. That's interesting.
What seems to be more interesting is that, looked from the point of view of doubles, the yin to Dracula's raging yang can only be Mina Harker. She's the focus of good in this novel. If I remember the movie correctly, they made her out to be Dracula's bride. It's intersting to think about what this illustrates about modern day psychology.
It has excellent elements and is a great work to study. But it can be boring as hell.
