I think the success of the book alone, compared to other gothic fictional novels of that time, is a good indication of it's brilliance. It still remains to be one of the most popular books of today's society. What other novel has maintained such a profound impact on people through such a long period of time? Almost everybody at some time or another, as a result of reading this novel, has wondered whether there really is something to fear!

I must say, that was a very insightful comment: if the character Dracula wasn't in the book called Dracula, the story just wouldn't have been as good...wow, I'm speechless.

My favourite character in this brilliant, horrifc story is, Dracula. Had it not been for Dracula there would hardly even be a story. Bram Stoker managed to ooze every little bit of fear out of him into us. It could have been a bit better in the way it did not seem to flow along all the time, this is my only criticism of this masterpiece and will always be one of my favourite books.
