I loved Little Women from the first time I read it. At first I didn't agree with Louisa May Alcott's decision of Jo turning down Laurie's proposal of marriage, because they just seemed to be perfect for each other. At first I thought she and the German guy 'just didn't click.' I also thought that Amy would marry an artistict French man, but when I read Louisa May Alcott's biography, and what she had to say about her decision, I realized that Amy and Laurie were perfect for each other. Laurie and Jo would have had an unhappy marriage. Amy had always wanted to be rich, and Amy and Laurie had this chemistry that is hard to explain. If you don't like this decision, look at the author's biography, and it may help you understand her decision.
