Firstly I would like to comment on what an epic book this is. It tells the tale of Raskolnikov, a young man impoverished in a harsh Russsian society, who travels a journey through insanity leading to murder and destitution. However for all his traits and downfalls, Raskolinikov is without a doubt a working class hero just victimised by many of life's perils.
