hoping someone could refer any poems, short stories that deal with the balance of life, the way in which everything is tied in, etc

I might also suggest parts of William Cullen Bryant's poem Thanatopsis or the Wallace Stevens poem about The Jar (I am unsure of the title). Good Luck finding something!

Oh, wait, that's the "circle" of life.

As for literature that talks about how all things fit together...a few books come to mind that deal with specific situations:

Things Fall Apart - a story of fitting in with irresistable change. The protagonist was considered almost perfect in the former society, but his underlying flaws make adapting difficult. Well written! Great final paragraph or two.

Some day I'll finish a book about my resistance to balance - my motto: Everything! Now! It's called High Adventure Coalition: beautiful vistas, thrilling bursts of speed. http://www.UofLIFE.com/hac - find a link to excerpts at the bottom of the page.
