The 2nd edition of the Gifford *I have this also, the first page/line number pair refers to the 1986 Gabler "Corrected Text" edition. Numbers following in parens refer to the 1961 Random House edition, that edition also being similar to the Viking edition.

I'd highly recommend you get yourself a copy of the large soft cover 1986 Gabler Corrected Text edition. It's out of print but there are lots of copies in used bookshops. It's grey and white with a big slanted red and blue "Ulysses" on the front, with a banner along the top "The Gabler Edition".

The Gabler edition is by far the most accurate and complete ever. It fixes hundreds of errors.
